- Payee (Merchant) - who you paid or received money from
- Category - which envelope to debit or credit
- Amount - how much
- Notes - optional details
- Status - pending or cleared
Automatic Import
When you connect your bank, transactions are imported automatically. Imported transactions include:- Smart merchant matching with logo display
- AI-powered auto-categorization based on your history
- Duplicate detection to avoid double-counting with manual entries
Review Status
Imported transactions start as Needs Review. This lets you:- Verify the category is correct
- Split transactions across multiple categories
- Confirm the amount and payee
Split Transactions
A single transaction can be split across multiple categories. For example, a grocery store purchase might include:- $80 to Groceries
- $15 to Household Items
- $5 to Pet Supplies
Transfers
When money moves between your own accounts, use a transfer transaction. Kualia links both sides automatically so:- Your total net worth stays accurate
- Category balances aren’t affected (unless it’s a credit card payment)
