Kualia is rooted in the principles of the “envelope” budgeting method. Traditionally, this approach involved placing cash into envelopes designated for specific purposes, such as groceries, rent, or entertainment. When an envelope was empty, spending in that category had to pause until it was replenished.

This method is all about being intentional with your money and staying within your limits.

Kualia modernizes this concept by turning your envelopes digital, making it simple to track both cash and cashless purchases. At the start of each month, you’ll allocate the funds in your accounts (linked via Plaid or entered manually) to your categories, which act as your virtual envelopes.

Throughout the month, just like traditional Envelope Budgeting you'll spend money pulling from your accounts available balance to allocate to these categories and pay for expenses!
